Joshua Miller, Design and Operations Manager, has been involved in the solar industry since an early age, having grown up in a passive solar adobe home in Arizona. After graduating from Business School at Northern Arizona University he spent several years traveling the world before returning to Arizona to work for a green building company.
During the next two years as Project Manager the business quickly grew to become one of the premier solar companies in Arizona with several hundred kilowatts of installed projects around the state. He then moved onto the corporate side of solar as Regional Sales Manager for several states, before partnering with Western Solar in 2008. Josh now serves as a board member on Solar Washington and is an active member in the Solar Installers of Washington.
Eric Blatz, Construction Manager/Electrical Administrator, has been a union commercial electrical administrator in the state of Washington for several years and has been in the industry for 15 years. He is an IBEW trained electrician with certifications for electric vehicles and solar installation and has also recieves his NABCEP (North American Board of Certified Energy Practitioners) Solar Certification. His work includes commercial electrical sytems on dozens of large projects in the state of Washington.
Eric has installed over 2 Megawatts of solar energy in Western Washington.
Rachael Heiner, Office Manager, graduated from the University of Washington’s Foster School of Business with a degree in Human Resources Management. After graduating she worked in Seattle for six years before relocating back to Bellingham.
She joined Western Solar June 2014 and is very enthusiastic about a career in the renewable energy industry.
In her spare time, Rachael enjoying reading and writing. She has two young sons who keep her very busy. In addition, she enjoys macro photography.
Markus Virta, System Design/Technical Sales, graduated from Pacific University in 2012 with a Bachelors degree in Sustainable Design. He is a leader in technical solar sales and is actively pursuing further education. Native to Bellingham, he enjoys putting his diverse background to use in a rapidly growing industry.
Growing up, Markus developed a passion for camping, cycling, hiking and just about anything involving a relationship with the natural world. Today he funnels this passion and enthusiasm into his work in solar.
Trish Haveman, Marketing Coordinator & Project Support, studied Visual Communications with a focus on Graphic Design and Web/Interactive Media. After spending three years working for a local real estate marketing company and another two years working on freelance graphic and web design projects, she joined the Western Solar team in July 2014.
She and her husband live outside of Bellingham and have a 12.225 kW ground mount solar array and two all-electric Nissan LEAFs. In addition to sharing her passion for electric vehicles and solar technology, Trish enjoys singing in her choir, ballroom dancing, photography, and hosting game nights with friends.
David Logan (aka Zeke), Lead Installer, grew up in Western Washington and has a deep appreciation for the Pacific Northwest. He served in the U.S. Navy as a Gunner’s Mate for 4 years and he studied Biology at Mesa State College in Colorado.
Zeke installed solar in Colorado for 2 years with High Noon Solar and after moving back to Western Washington, started installing with Western Solar in February, 2012.
Kelly Larsen, Electrician, has been an electrician since 2003. He earned certification in PV System Design from the Northwest Washington Electrical Industry (JATC). He holds EL01 Washington State Commercial Journeyman Electrician and Washington State Electrical Administrative Licenses.
Kelly is a Washington native, growing up in Snohomish were he currently resides. He enjoys all types of music and professional sports.
Craig Folsom, Installer, graduated from Appalachian State University with a Bachelors degree in Appropriate Technology. He has earned certifications for NABCEP (Entry Level) and Solar Thermal.
Craig is a professional downhill mountain bike racer and has competed all over the country. He recently moved from Nashville, to pursue the Pacific Northwest’s biking trails and continue his passion in the solar industry.
Bobby Bruce, Intern, is a recent graduate of Squalicum High School. He was born and spent several years living in Sydney Australia. He enjoys skimboarding, camping, hiking and swimming. His hope is to continue working in the solar industry while he attends college.
