What do you do at Western Solar? What does your average day look like?
The simple answer is to say marketing, but the truth is that I have a hand in many different facets of Western Solar. When I’m wearing my marketing hat, I coordinate our outreach and upcoming events, design our advertising and branding materials, update our website, and manage our social media platforms. I also assist our sales team with running solar resource analyses, designing 3D renderings for system proposals and project schematics, and building bids.
What’s your favorite part about working here?
By far, it’s the passion, integrity, and personalities of the people I work with. It’s very much a team atmosphere. At least once a week, I remark to someone about how happy I am not only to have an opportunity to work in this industry, but for Western Solar in particular. I’ve been here for just shy of five years and still look forward to coming to work every day.
What’s your biggest achievement to date (either personal or professional)?
My biggest achievement recently has been delving into sports photography — specifically paintball — and sharing my work with other players and the public. Every round of shooting and editing is another opportunity to tune my skills and evaluate areas where I can improve. Having people get really excited to see each release of recent shots is absolute icing on the cake.
How do you typically spend your time outside of work?
I spread my time off between hanging out at my favorite paintball field, occasionally joining in to sling paint, but often photographing all-day scenario games and speedball tournaments; playing D&D or games with friends; disappearing into a good fantasy novel; or wandering around the Blaine waterfront.
And finally, while this may be cliche — what’s your favorite quote?
“And though she be but little, she is fierce.” – William Shakespeare, A Midsummer Night’s Dream
