Job Description
The commercial electrician will be responsible for the photovoltaic electrical system installation from beginning to end. In this position, the electrician will install all necessary parts and equipment using the industry’s best practices and complete knowledge of the NEC codes and standards. They will ensure successful operation of the complete photovoltaic system, while proficiently communicating and updating project status with management. This is an outdoor position that may require work on elevated roofs, in harness, in inclement weather, throughout the year.
Job sites are in Whatcom, Skagit, King, Snohomish, Island, and San Juan Counties. Home office is in Bellingham, WA.
Responsibilities
- Installation of all PV system components according to provided system schematics, using industry best practices
- Planning and implementing DC and AC electrical runs in an efficient and tidy manner
- Replacing, upgrading, or installing sub-panels and interconnecting with main electrical service in homes and businesses
- Communicating with the customer regarding project expectations, equipment locations, and any on-site system adjustments
- Ensuring successful operation of completed systems
- Ongoing system maintenance and troubleshooting
- Maintaining job site and vehicle cleanliness
- Adherence to OSHA and NEC standards
Requirements
- Current Washington Journeyman Commercial (01) Electrical License required
- Current Washington driver’s license with clean driving record
- Knowledge of NEC and City building codes
- Enthusiasm for learning and adopting new technologies
- Comfortable working on varying roof types in all weather conditions
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Disciplined team player who actively listens, learns, teaches, and communicates effectively
- Experienced with general construction practices and common power tools
- Capable of lifting 50 lbs
- NABCEP certification (desired)
- OSHA 10 certified (desired)
Compensation
Starting at $45-$55/hour. Pay dependent on experience and education; opportunities to work on prevailing wage projects. Western Solar offers a $1,000/year educational stipend for authorized continuing education classes/course material. Installation crew receives a quarterly bonus via our installation bonus program.
