General Foreperson

Western Solar is seeking a general foreperson to oversee and train our field crews and crew leads. The purpose of this position is to manage multiple crews simultaneously and in all aspects of construction at Western Solar including solar PV systems, ductless heat pumps, generators, battery backup systems, electrical wiring/retrofits, and other energy efficiency/home energy systems. To plan and coordinate the efforts of the foremen and crew under his/her supervision and motivate them to accomplish the work safely, correctly and efficiently. This individual will also participate in planning, installation and commissioning of the above listed systems, as necessary. This position will assist the Director of Operations in his/her day to day responsibilities including management of crew responsibilities, performance, and morale. The position will also assist project managers in their project development work. This role will require technical oversight of all project details.

Job sites are primarily in Whatcom, Skagit, Island, Snohomish, and San Juan Counties. Our home office is in Bellingham.

Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Communicate project status with company directors and project managers
  • Develop and maintain quality standards for all project sites
  • Provide leadership by communicating and enforcing company safety policies
  • Provide leadership by communicating and enforcing company policies and procedures
  • Provide leadership by leading team members by example. Offering effective coaching, feedback, and effectively managing performance
  • Ensuring proper job documentation has been completed once the job has been completed
  • Troubleshoot technical issues, review PV system designs, and offer value engineering suggestions when necessary
  • Monitor supply inventory levels, and coordinate with others when reordering is necessary
  • All tasks related to lead installer/foreman position

Required Skills:

  • Working knowledge of grid-tied photovoltaic systems and NEC/ANSI/NFPA 70
  • Multi-tasking / ability to concurrently work on several ongoing projects

Required Licenses & Certifications:

  • Must maintain a current driver’s license
  • NABCEP certification preferred

Physical Requirements:

Exerting in excess of 100 pounds of force occasionally, and/or in excess of 50 pounds of force regularly, and/or in excess of 20 pounds of force frequently to move objects. Working on steep surfaces in high locations

Compensation:

$75,000 to $105,000 annually
