Solar for Government

With evolving energy standards and the demand for increased renewable energy production here in Washington State, local and state government agencies are finding that solar is a cost effective long term solution to meeting their energy needs while reducing their long-term carbon footprint.  Each year we see more and more schools, city and county facilities, jails, and parks deciding to install some of the largest scale solar projects that are currently being contracted in the state.

These projects are often awarded through a combination of publicly issued Requests for Proposals (RFPs) or through ongoing partnerships with pre-qualified Energy Services Companies (ESCOs).  With our streamlined operations, access to solar products from manufacturers around the world, and expansive 18-year history in the industry, Western Solar has an extensive track record throughout the state of providing winning bids on these public RFPs, since our very first project with just twelve 170 watt solar panels for the City of Bellingham over a decade ago, we have installed a range of government projects across Washington State. Western Solar is happy to help any contractor win the latest public RFPs on either new construction or retrofit projects that have a solar requirement.

If a City, County, or State Agency is looking for a more extensive energy savings project where the publicly available funds are not available, Western Solar can partner with one of our two ESCO partners to provide a comprehensive energy analysis and grant proposal that includes energy retrofit designs through determining savings from lighting upgrades, heating system changes, and photovoltaic installations.  With our ESCO partners, we can work to secure available grant funding from publicly available funds at the Washington Department of Commerce or other state agencies that require DOE approved contractors with the ability to design, quote, manage, insure and bond large multi-million dollar projects of this size.
