Does taking the leap and installing solar seem daunting? That’s where Western Solar comes in. We’re here to simplify things for you with our six-step solar installation process.

1

FREE Solar Resource Analysis

Think about the roof space you are considering for a solar installation. Is the roof open to the sun from 9 am to 4 pm, with minimal shade from trees or surrounding objects? If so, it’s worth running the numbers and completing a solar analysis.

We’ll start with a preliminary* remote analysis, which uses LIDAR to calculate how much of your roof is shaded by surrounding trees, buildings, or other obstructions (like vents or chimneys). This factors in your roof pitch and orientation, and calculates how much solar energy is available for your system to convert into electricity.

Armed with this information, we’ll be able to design the most efficient solar system possible for your site.

3D Model of Your Home with Solar

This is the fun part—you get to see what your house will look like with solar on it!

And this is no AI-generated design: our design team models every system in-house and we use every tool at our disposal to provide you with as detailed and accurate a model as we can, short of actually getting up on your roof.

Aerial drone photos from the last time your house was listed for sale? Found them. And that tree you removed last year? We’ll catch that when we compare multiple sources of satellite imagery, to make sure our info is up to date.

New house under construction? No problem. Send us your architectural plans including a site plan, roof plan, and elevation drawings, and we’ll take it from there.

Finalize Details & Sign Contract

After you’ve settled on your system design, your designer will complete a final on-site assessment to confirm initial design assumptions, inspect your roof quality, take measurements, and put together an electrical/interconnection plan.

You will have the opportunity to ask any and all remaining questions, tweak your system design if necessary, and add on any additional services you require, such as a SPAN panel or electric vehicle charger.

Once everything is to your satisfaction, we’ll send your contract digitally via DocuSign. Or you’re welcome to swing by our office to meet the team (and the office dogs) and sign your contract in person.

*Why start with a preliminary remote analysis? Good question! This is because we respect both your time and ours. Our remote analysis allows us to provide you with a customized design and quote more quickly than traditional on-site assessments allow. Once you’re ready to finalize your design and quote, we’ll confirm our design assumptions to ensure all the bases are covered before you sign anything. This saves all of us from the hassle of change orders down the line. Nobody likes those.
